brett2356 This is so chilled and optimistic considering the healing narrative. lovely harmony and slight nod to Annie Lennox with the "tinkly keyboard" in the mix too.

about

LA was written as a result of a life changing night, that completely altered and determined the direction of Jessie Scarlet‘s mental state and musical direction.

The song is the result of complete heartbreak, emotional annihilation and shock at the discovery of peoples deceit, vitriol and duplicity.

The lyrics of the track are filled with sorrow and disappointment.

It is a completely honest and heartfelt reflection of feelings at a time where nothing made any sense, and yet everything was made crystal clear through the discovery of offensive conversations and blatantly disingenuous behaviour.

The music is of a synth pop nature with driving drums and bass line, decorated with jangley guitar lines, atmospheric piano chords and floating synthesiser parts to overall, create a dream like, melancholic, stunned atmosphere to perfectly reflect where Jessie’s heart was at at the time of writing.

The song is produced by Ben Williams.

lyrics

Broken bones
From Falling asleep at the helm
They pile up on top of each other
In slow motion they fell

Did you know?
That I wouldn’t have been able to tell?
But you’re terrible at all of this and you do it to yourself

Carnage comes from all the lies you forge
The fakest that ive seen
And there’s no way out of this
No time to try and save yourself
So go to hell

Go there
And don’t come back

Broken hearts
line them up like dominoes
take your time to push the first one
then watch them down they go

and you can’t run from who you really are. Don’t care what you try to be
Cos there’s no way out of this
I know - I’ve tried it all before
and all your war gets you nowhere
why can’t you see?
